Is a program for young coffee growers of the Center of Huila and others regions in Colombia are motivated to continue in this tradicional familiar business, we strengthen their knowledge, and give economical suppor for post harvest in their productive units. We find opportunities to achive a diferential coffee production with value-added.

 

Programa inspirador para que jovenes caficultores del centro del departamento del Huila y otras regiones del país se motiven a continuar en este negocio de tradición familiar; fortalecemos sus conocimientos, brindamos apoyo económico para inversiones de postcosecha en su unidad productiva encontrando oportunidades para lograr una producción de café diferenciados con valor agregado.

COFFEE BY WOMEN

Is a program that add knowledge and improve all women’s in the Colombian coffee growing activity. Through workshops, they develop soft skills and streghthen the technical concepts of coffee cultivation. We provide technical assistance, support through the BPA implements improving their productivity, and also providing agricultural tools that contribute to the coffee’s quality.

 

Programa que aporta saberes que empoderan y visibilizan a la mujer en la caficultura del agro colombiano, a través de capacitaciones desarrollan habilidades blandas y fortalecemos los conceptos técnicos del cultivo de café, brindamos acompañamiento de asistencia técnica para implementar BPA y mejorar su productividad, también se entregan herramientas agrícolas que aportan a la Calidad de café.

As producers we must give calmness to our costumers and be aware when it comes to work for a fair, safe and responsible production where the processes are monitored, oriented and supervised by a team of field professionals to comply with the requirements of the Rainforest’s standard, delivering support materials to the producer and transfering knowledge through workshops.

La tranquilidad que como productores debemos dar a nuestros consumidores y consciente de trabajar por una producción justa, segura y responsable, donde los procesos de producción son monitoreados, orientados y vigilados por un equipo de profesionales de campo para cumplirlos según los requisitos de la norma Rainforest, entregando materiales de apoyo al productor y transferimos conocimiento al productor a través de talleres.

Foundation

In order to offer excellent quality specialty coffees, we ensure that our associated producers have a dignified quality of life and tools for development and progress.

Founded in 2007, the Foundation for Coffee Development and Agricultural - FUNDECAFÉ works for the welfare of our associates at the Coffee Growers Central Cooperative from Huila - COOCENTRAL, it is a non-profit organization that works directly with our agricultural community to provide us with the direct assistance that we need to take care of our land and our families.

Our Programs

echnical assistance is vital for coffee growers to improve their coffee companies production and consolidate their businesses, it is a fundamental component for the sustainable development of agricultural activities, this service is provided to all our associates through professionals from the agricultural sector, allowing a comprehensive accompaniment, managing to direct the increase in income levels, facilitating the increase in their productivity and competitiveness indexes and improving their quality of life. The historical investment made in the Technical Assistance program exceeds three thousand million pesos and it has benefited all our associates.
Con nuestro principal objetivo de “promover y mejorar las condiciones económicas, sociales, culturales y ecológicas de los asociados”, en el año 2009 creamos el programa de mejoramiento de vivienda, a través del cual atendemos necesidades de mejoramiento y adecuación de la vivienda familiar. En los últimos 10 años se han realizado mejoramientos basados en la necesidad primordial y particular de cada productor; cubiertas, unidades sanitarias, cocinas, pisos, construcción de habitaciones para el núcleo familiar o trabajadores, construcción de vivienda nueva, pisos en cerámicas, son algunos de ellos. Gracias a nuestros aliados estratégicos FairTrade International y The LaughingMan Fundation a través de Fair Trade USA, hemos beneficiado a 1328 familias con una inversión acumulada de más de cinco mil millones de pesos.
The Educative function is developed permanently. This program has two objectives: to support associates, employees, and children in an economic way, as an incentive to achieve a professional education that allows them to have a better standard of living, and to make the coffee community aware of the importance of obtaining professional knowledge through training, educational tours, cultural and sports activities, promotional meetings, and acquisition of technology or tools. The Higher Education Program that has reached 378 students, children of coffee growers and / or coffee growers associated with an investment of more than two thousand five hundred million pesos. Additionally, the training and awareness programs have impacted the entire coffee community, with a historical investment of nearly 500 million pesos.
We provide financial support to our associates to subsidize basic needs such as health and pension so that they have support in the event of a difficult situation or domestic calamity. The solidarity fund currently operates through five programs: Pension Fund, BEPS, Solidarity Aid, Associates Health, Funeral Aid, and Domestic Calamities. Since 2007, with the Associates Health program, we have reached close to 200 associates per year with an accumulated investment about one thousand million pesos, and with the Pension Fund and BEPS programs, close to 50 associates per year with an investment accumulated of 56 million pesos. On the other hand, with the Funeral Aid program, we have reached more than 2,000 associates per year with a historical investment of more than one thousand six hundred million pesos. In general, the investment made through the COOCENTRAL Solidarity Fund is about three thousand million pesos.
Since 2019, we subsidize the interest of the skillful associates’ credits who cancel on a time the obligations acquired in the Cooperative, in order to contribute to the financing of production costs, to lead the coffee growers to increase their productivity, support the economic sustainability of coffee growers and reward their loyalty. This program has benefited 1,181 associates who paid only the capital of their credits made in the cooperative required to meet the needs in their coffee companies, representing an investment of more than 400 million pesos for COOCENTRAL.
The increase that we have experienced in the last 14 years has had a positive impact on the generation of employment in the region. We started generating 21 direct jobs and 120 indirect jobs and now we offer around 200 direct jobs and more than 600 indirect ones. Reinforcing our firm conviction of generating a radical change to the quality of life in our coffee community, more than 50 of our employees are associates or their sons and daughters.
